Well hello, Q4! Can you believe we’re already here? This time of year often brings both an uptick in real estate activity and the additional demands of the holiday season. Balancing work, family, and personal commitments can feel overwhelming. You don’t need a reminder of that. My goal for this post is to help you stay ahead of the pressure and set yourself up for success in the weeks ahead.
Here are 4 practical and proactive steps you can take.
1. Define Success on Your Terms
It’s easy to get caught up in chasing numbers or achievements that others define as “successful.” Success looks different for everyone. Take a moment to reflect on what success means for you this season. Is it hitting your production target? Or maybe it’s carving out more time with family? Perhaps it’s a blend of both. Whatever it is, make your goals personal and meaningful to you.
In Action: Imagine it’s New Year’s Eve—December 31st, 2024. You’re reflecting on the past three months. What are you proud of? What did you achieve both professionally and personally? Write down these thoughts, and refer to them regularly, especially as you begin to feel the pressure build.
2. Prioritize YOUR Priorities
The fall selling season can feel like a whirlwind. Clients want their homes sold yesterday, while last-minute social engagements drop onto your calendar like autumn leaves. Here’s a loving reminder: YOU get to decide what deserves your time and energy. Decide now how you will spend it.
In Action: List your top three priorities for this quarter—both professionally and personally. When you feel pulled in too many directions, return to this list and ask yourself, “Is this aligned with what truly matters, right now?” Bonus: Block out time on your calendar for these priorities to ensure they get the attention they deserve.
3. Revisit and Recommit to Your Values
When the pace picks up, cutting corners or making concessions that don’t align with your values can be tempting. Achieving your version of “success” isn’t at all worth it if you sacrifice your integrity to yourself. Revisit your core values and let them guide every decision. This way, you won’t just reach your goals—you’ll keep your heart intact, knowing you’ve stayed true to yourself.
In Action: Ask yourself: How do you want to “be” as you pursue your goals? Write down these values and keep them front and center to ensure you’re aligned with the version of success that reflects who you are at your core.
4. Engage with Your Community
When things get busy, it not uncommon to isolate—but community is a key ingredient to your wellbeing. Lean into your network, whether it’s family, friends, colleagues, or fellow women in real estate. Share your challenges, ask for support, and offer it in return. Your community can help keep you focused, inspired, and grounded through the hustle and bustle.
In Action: Before the season gets too hectic, schedule coffee dates or virtual check-ins with people who uplift and inspire you. Get it on the calendar now, proactively. When the time comes, keep the appointment. Use it to exchange experiences, keep it real, and support one another.
Remember, you get to define what success looks like for you. Whether that’s meeting your business goals, family time, or simply navigating this season with more grace, I encourage you to take these proactive steps now to create a thriving, sustainable fourth quarter.
