How to Overcome Perfectionism
As I write this, it’s Friday, almost 2pm and I have to leave for an appointment in just over an hour. Tomorrow, I head out to Mexico with my family for vacation. I’ve checked a bunch of items off my to-do list this week, in preparation for my upcoming trip, however publishing my weekly video is not one of them.
I could get into the various excuses I gave myself, but I will spare you.
Instead, I’m practicing what I preach, quite literally, and am following my own advice:
Done is better than perfect.
The commitment to publish weekly is really important to me. It’s good for my self-image (the way I see myself, aka self esteem) and recording/posting this message also gives me the opportunity to appreciate my imperfections, something we can all work on.
How can you apply this simple yet empowering principle today?
- in business?
- with your significant other?
- in your family?
- fitness?
- home?
Look around, chances are there is something still incomplete on your to-do list all because perfectionism is running you. Don’t let it!
