Recently, I had the honor and pleasure of presenting for the Chandler Chamber of Commerce Women in Leadership luncheon.  My topic: Uniquely You in 2022.  It was so well received that I feel compelled to offer you, my dear subscribers, a brief summary.

Let’s dive in.

Just three weeks ago we transitioned from 2021 to 2022. Many people resolving to do this, that or the other.  Or, for some, to NOT do this, that or the other. Somewhere in the midst of the new year season, I imagine you heard the phrase “New Year, New You”.

I’ve got a real problem with that phrase. Here’s why:

#1 – it implies that something is wrong, broken or bad.  Let me remind you: you are perfectly made.  Nothing is wrong, broken or bad. You may have a hard time seeing or believing that.  That happens all the time. Your difficulty in accepting the idea that you are perfectly made doesn’t negate the fact that you are, indeed, perfectly made.

#2 – the phrase also fails to address that in order to take the action you want to take, new thoughts will be required. Action, and even in-action, is rooted in thought.

When a person adopts the “New Year, New You” mindset they inevitably end up relying on willpower and motivation alone and fizzle out by early February.  This can leave a person feeling frustrated, sad or even demoralized.

There’s another way.

We have to understand the thought patterns that are creating our results in the first place.  The thoughts we have about ourselves, the world, our goals and even succeeding at those goals.   Moreso, we must understand the thoughts that will be required to create whatever it is that we want.

Now what? There are a number of things you could do, and for the sake of keeping things simple, I recommend the following:

  1. Get crystal clear about what it is that you really want.
  2. Build an image of what you want in your mind.
  3. Concentrate on the image for a minimum of 5 minutes each day.
  4. Take courageous action toward making your vision a reality.

Rinse and repeat.

Ditching the “new year, new you” mentality and adopting the recommended steps will leave you feeling more energized, confident and accomplished.

There’s more…

The four steps provided, when adopted as recommended, will support you in reaching your goals, there’s no doubt about it. And, if you really want to supercharge your results, there are few more things you should know.

Introducing: the Uniquely You in 2022 Masterclass.  In this 2 hour workshop, I will go into detail on the steps I just recommended along with a few more and I’ll share the science behind why it works.  Finally, after attending, you’ll be gifted a 1 hour, private one-on-one coaching session with me.
